João Campos announces regional hospital and AgroTech hub in Petrolina during Pernambuco governor campaign

Pre‑candidate for the Pernambuco governorship, João Campos (PSB) presented two flagship proposals in Petrolina on 11 July. The first is the construction of the Hospital Regional do São Francisco, a high‑complexity facility with more than 200 beds offering cardiology, cardiovascular surgery, neurology, intensive care and rehabilitation services. The second is the creation of Vale AgroTech, an innovation centre that will bring together research, universities, producers and funding agencies to develop technology solutions for irrigated agriculture in the semi‑arid region.

The event, part of the Front Popular’s “Chega Junto Pernambuco” tour, gathered prominent party figures. Deputy federal Lucas Ramos pledged to renew the partnership between a Campos administration and President Lula, echoing the alliance forged by Eduardo Campos. Senate candidate Marília Arraes emphasised the need to strengthen the Lulist bloc in Congress and highlighted the Sertão’s role in national development. Federal deputy‑candidate Eliane Soares was warmly received, reaffirming her commitment to health investments such as the Hospital Dom Tomás and the Araripe Cancer Hospital. Local leader Reginaldo Crateú Cavalcante also voiced support for the campaign’s regional agenda.
