João Cancelo considered for advanced attacking roles at Barcelona

João Cancelo is experiencing a period of high form, prompting FC Barcelona to consider unconventional tactical roles for the player. While primarily a wing-back, his recent offensive contributions have led to discussions about utilizing him as a central attacker or a false nine.

In his last eight appearances across club and international duties with Portugal, Cancelo has recorded four goals and one assist. His recent performances include scoring for Barcelona in their Champions League victory against Galatasaray and finding the net for Portugal in matches against Denmark and Norway.

Manager Hansi Flick may use Cancelo’s technical ability and tactical intelligence to maintain offensive pressure during the absence of Raphinha. This potential shift aims to provide more creativity and penetration in the attacking third during upcoming matches.
