João Monlevade completes containment wall and street repair in Loanda

The municipality of João Monlevade finished building a retaining wall and restoring a section of Felipe Camarão Street in the Loanda neighbourhood. The project, carried out by the city's Secretariat of Works, addresses a decades‑long demand from residents for safer terrain and better traffic conditions.

Mayor Dr. Laércio Ribeiro inspected the work alongside chief of staff Gentil Bicalho and CAT/Sine coordinator Gilliard Ribeiro. Resident Ijanara Santos, who received the wall on her property, said the completion fulfills a 42‑year‑old hope. Secretary of Works Gustavo Maciel noted that each site requires specific technical solutions and that the Loanda wall is part of a broader plan to construct nine containment structures across the city to stabilise slopes and protect public infrastructure.
