João Pessoa and Teresina launch LGBTQ Pride month initiatives

Municipal and state authorities in Brazil are organizing a series of activities to mark LGBTQ Pride month in June. In João Pessoa, the Coordenadoria de Promoção à Cidadania LGBT will distribute informational materials and promote services such as psychological, gynecological and endocrinological care at two popular community events on June 26 and 27.

In Teresina, the Piauí state government opened its Semana Estadual do Orgulho LGBTQIA+ with the I Seminário Estadual Piauí de Todas as Cores on June 15. The seminar featured panels on public policies, health, and violence prevention, and the week‑long program includes free services like haircuts, nail care, rapid HIV testing, legal assistance, and issuance of social‑name identity cards across several city neighborhoods.
