João Pessoa City Council Launches 2027 Budget Debate and Honors Deputy Murilo Galdino

The Câmara Municipal de João Pessoa began the legislative process for the 2027 Budget Guidelines Law (LDO) with a public hearing on Tuesday, June 2. The session gathered municipal secretaries, council members, representatives of civic groups and citizens to discuss priorities for the city’s upcoming fiscal plan, covering mobility, health, education, housing, employment, social assistance and sustainable development. The council set a schedule for amendments, a report presentation on June 16, and a plenary vote by June 18.

In a separate ceremony on Monday, June 25, the council awarded the title of Citizen of João Pessoa to federal deputy Murilo Galdino (Republicanos). Officials highlighted his work in Brasília securing resources for the city and the state, praising his advocacy for inclusion, mobility and housing. The tribute was proposed by councilor Wamberto Ulysses and included remarks from several council members and the deputy’s brother, state deputy Adriano Galdino.
