João Pessoa awards R$1.6 million to cultural projects under PNAB

The João Pessoa municipal government announced the results of four recent calls under the National Aldir Blanc Culture Fund (PNAB) for 2025‑2026, allocating a total of R$ 1 627 600 (about US$ 300 k). Three calls support the Cultura Viva program and one partners civil‑society organisations.

Ten continuing projects – nine Points of Culture and one Pontão – will receive R$ 1 200 000, with each Point granted R$ 100 000 and the Pontão R$ 300 000. Seven existing Points and Pontões were awarded a total of R$ 210 000. Eight Cultura Viva scholarships for masters of traditional popular culture were granted R$ 117 600. A further R$ 100 000 was earmarked for five civil‑society proposals (R$ 20 000 each). Applicants may appeal decisions until 19 June via the JPCultura platform. The funds come from the federal government through PNAB and are administered by the municipal Fund of Culture in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture. Mayor Leo Bezerra and Funjope director‑executive Marcus Alves highlighted the program’s role in guaranteeing resources and supporting a large number of submissions from artists, collectives and cultural points.
