João Pessoa expands LGBTQ+ health and micro‑credit services

The João Pessoa municipal Coordinadoria da Promoção à Cidadania LGBT reported a range of actions in the first half of 2026. The psychology service recorded 72 new appointments and 42 counseling visits, while plans are in place to restart endocrinology and gynecology care in August. Partnerships with the Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB) and Uninassau support these services.

A micro‑credit line called “Eu Posso Diversidade,” launched with the municipal Secretariat of Social Development and Work, granted credit to 19 LGBTQ+ entrepreneurs between March and June, helping them formalise or expand their businesses. The Coordinadoria also takes part in national LGBTQ+ policy forums such as the Comissão Nacional Intergestores LGBTQIA+ and the Fórum Nacional de Gestores Estaduais e Municipais. It operates temporarily at Rua Diogo Velho, 150, in the city centre.
