The municipal infrastructure agency Seinfra carried out a large‑scale “tapa‑buraco” road‑repair operation in 49 neighbourhoods on Thursday, 6 August, using a technology‑equipped vehicle to detect potholes and also working on drainage lines. A similar schedule was kept on Wednesday, 5 August – the city’s 441st anniversary – with crews repairing roads in 42 neighbourhoods despite the public holiday.

Essential municipal services remained open on the holiday. Health facilities including the Hospital Municipal Santa Isabel, Hospital Municipal Valentina, the Mangabeira complex and SAMU operated 24 hours. Two mobile vaccination points were set up at Shopping Sul and Home Center Ferreira Costa, while the municipal cleaning agency Emlur continued waste collection, street sweeping and cleaning of main avenues. Traffic agents from Semob‑JP were deployed to keep traffic flowing during celebrations.

The city’s dengue‑vaccination campaign, led by immunisation chief Fernando Virgolino, has administered a total of 42 594 doses of the Qdenga vaccine to children aged 10‑14, with 26 809 doses in 2024, 9 983 in 2025 and 5 802 so far in 2026. The campaign stresses the two‑dose schedule and complementary mosquito‑control measures.

During the Festa das Neves, the traditional “maçã do amor” remained a popular street‑food, with vendors selling about 1 000 apples at R$5 each, providing income for dozens of families.
