João Pessoa launches social services and drainage works

The City of João Pessoa has implemented several municipal initiatives to support local communities. Through the Caravana do Cuidar, organized by the Secretariat of Human Rights and Citizenship (Sedhuc), approximately 550 residents of the Alto do Mateus neighborhood received free services. The program focused on facilitating access to essential administrative tasks, such as updating SUS health cards and Bolsa Família registrations, directly within the community to reduce travel costs and wait times.

In a separate infrastructure effort, Mayor Leo Bezerra has launched a drainage project in the Aratu community within the Costa do Sol region. The project, which involves an investment exceeding R$ 1 million, aims to resolve chronic flooding issues caused by heavy rains. The intervention includes the installation of 1,200 mm diameter piping to improve water collection and runoff capacity in the area.
