João Pessoa Mayor authorizes new health unit for 12,000 residents

Mayor Leo Bezerra has authorized the construction of a new Health Unit of the Future (USF) in the Alto do Céu community, located in Mandacaru. The facility is designed to serve an estimated 12,000 residents, providing comprehensive primary care assistance.

The project involves an investment of R$ 2.8 million and is expected to be completed within 18 months. The new unit will be fully air-conditioned, modernized, and computerized. This initiative is part of a broader municipal effort to expand basic health coverage in João Pessoa and reduce the burden on Emergency Care Units (Upas).

Since 2021, the city administration has been investing in new health units through a partnership with the Federal Government via the Growth Acceleration Program (PAC). To date, nine units have been delivered, with plans for a total of 12 new units to ensure basic health access for the entire population.
