João Pessoa’s Cecaf market reports 35% rise in sales in first half of 2026
The Central de Comercialização da Agricultura Familiar (Cecaf) in João Pessoa recorded a 35% increase in the volume of products sold from January to June 2026, reaching about 692,111 kg compared with the same period in 2025. The growth was driven by expanded infrastructure, larger promotional campaigns, technical visits to farms and the recadastramento of vendors. Major events such as the Semana do Pescado and the Festival do Milho attracted more visitors and boosted sales.
Cecaf also intensified its social role, collecting and donating more than six tonnes of food to over ten charitable institutions, helping reduce waste and improve food‑security for hundreds of families.
