João Pinheiro hosts Arte em Rede cultural seminar

On June 27, the town of João Pinheiro in Minas Gerais hosted a free, one‑day seminar titled “Territórios Criativos: Cultura, Memória e Desenvolvimento.” The event is part of the Arte em Rede project, a cultural‑management training cycle that connects and strengthens cultural agents across the state. Sponsored by Cemig under the Minas Gerais State Incentive Law for Culture and organized by Vivas Cultura e Esporte, the seminar was held at the Casa da Cultura from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Curated by researcher Maria Helena Cunha, the program brought together researchers, cultural managers, public officials, artists and local cultural agents to discuss how culture can support social, economic and territorial development. Sessions covered heritage preservation, local identity, community leadership, financial sustainability for cultural initiatives and models that integrate culture, nature and income generation. The day also featured performances by the Roda de Viola Som da Terra and the traditional Folia de Reis do Pontal, and presented the results of a preceding workshop “Território e Cultura: reconhecendo o nosso espaço,” which involved about 20 local participants.
