Jordan and Egypt Conduct Large-Scale Food Safety Inspections, Seize Unsuitable Products

In Jordan's Zarqa governorate, the Public Safety Committee carried out a intensive inspection of food establishments, destroying 283.5 kg of meat and other food items deemed unfit for human consumption. Twenty‑two carcasses were sent to the Amman municipal slaughterhouse for veterinary testing, which found 17 of them unsuitable for consumption and handled them according to protocol.

In Egypt's Port Said, the Directorate of Supply and Internal Trade seized a large stock of expired and unsafe food products from a major shop in the Al‑Zahour district. The confiscated items included various soft drinks, packaged juices, children's snacks, ketchup, processed foods, and ready‑made sweets, many of which were past their expiry dates or otherwise unsuitable for consumption. All seized goods were held pending a public prosecution decision, and legal action was initiated against the shop owner for violating anti‑fraud law No. 281 of 1994.

Both authorities emphasized ongoing, rigorous market monitoring to protect public health and urged consumers to check product expiry dates and report violations.
