Jordan and Egypt push diplomatic de‑escalation in Middle East
Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs for Expatriates Aymin al‑Saffadi and Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdulati held separate phone calls with their Qatari counterpart Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein and U.S. Middle‑East envoy Steve Witkoff. The officials stressed the need to intensify diplomatic efforts, return to negotiations and implement the full Trump‑administered Gaza plan to ensure humanitarian aid and regional stability.
All parties also called for the protection of freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea, urging the international community to act against actions they described as illegal Israeli measures in the West Bank and Jerusalem. The coordinated outreach aimed to curb rising tensions and support a broader regional security framework involving Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Kuwait and other stakeholders.
