Jordan Bardella hits record popularity in France after riots

Following unrest in several French cities triggered by celebrations of Paris Saint‑Germain’s Champions League win, a Le Figaro poll carried out from 31 May to 2 June shows National Rally leader Jordan Bardella reaching a 47 % approval rating – a six‑point rise and the highest of his career. The surge puts him ahead of fellow party figure Marine Le Pen, who recorded 40 % support, and reflects growing public demand for stricter law‑and‑order measures, which Bardella has repeatedly pledged.

Bardella links the disturbances to the government’s migration policy and positions himself as the RN’s main contender for the 2027 presidential election, especially as Le Pen faces a legal ban that could prevent her candidacy. The poll also ranks former prime minister Edouard Philippe at 29 %, former interior minister Bruno Retailleau at 24 %, Gérald Darmanin at 22 %, Raphaël Glucksmann at 19 %, Éric Zemmour at 17 % and Jean‑Luc Mélenchon at 16 %.

The results underscore the RN’s expanding appeal amid concerns over security, immigration and social stability ahead of France’s next presidential contest.
