Jordan condemns settler incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque

The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates has issued a strong condemnation regarding the continued incursions of extremist settlers into the Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif. These incidents, occurring under the protection of Israeli police, have been accompanied by restrictions on worshippers and provocative practices within the holy site.

Ministry spokesperson Ambassador Fouad Al-Majali stated that these actions constitute a flagrant violation of international law and international humanitarian law. He characterized the incursions as an attempt to impose new realities on the mosque through temporal and spatial division. Al-Majali emphasized that Israel holds no sovereignty over occupied Jerusalem or its Islamic and Christian holy sites.

The Ministry warned of the consequences of continued violations and called upon the international community to take a firm stance to compel Israel, as the occupying power, to cease illegal practices and ensure unhindered access for worshippers. Jordan reaffirmed that the Al-Aqsa Mosque is an exclusively Muslim place of worship and that the Jerusalem Awqaf Department, under the Jordanian Ministry of Waqf, holds the exclusive legal authority to manage its affairs.
