Jordan heat wave continues as hot air mass lingers

The Jordanian Meteorological Department warned that a hot air mass will keep the kingdom under unusually high temperatures until Tuesday, with readings 4‑5 °C above seasonal norms. Peak temperatures reached 45.1 °C at Al‑Azraq, while other stations recorded mid‑40s. The heat is especially intense in the Badia, the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea area and Aqaba, with moderate north‑west winds.

Security and agriculture ministries issued advisories urging the public to avoid open‑flame activities, limit exposure to direct sunlight, and keep children and the elderly out of closed vehicles. The heat is expected to subside starting Wednesday, bringing temperatures back to typical levels by Thursday. Similar conditions were forecast for the Ramallah region, where a slight temperature drop is anticipated but readings will remain about 3‑4 °C above the annual average.
