Jorge Martin leads MotoGP title chase into Silverstone

Spanish rider Jorge Martin entered the Silverstone Grand Prix as the 2026 MotoGP world‑championship leader, holding a 14‑point advantage over Japan’s Ai Ogura. He heads a tight top‑five that also includes Ducati champion Marc Marquez, teammate Marco Bezzecchi and Fabio Di Giannantonio, all within 24 points of the lead.

Italian rider Luca Marini, currently the fastest Honda in the standings, aimed to protect his position at Silverstone while negotiating a two‑year contract with the Tech3 KTM team for 2027. Honda confirmed its future line‑up with Fabio Quartararo and Moto2 winner David Alonso, leaving Marini’s 2027 seat uncertain.

Yamaha announced a strategy focused on internal talent, confirming that 2026 leaders Jorge Martin and Ai Ogura will join the factory squad for 2027, reinforcing its bid to return to the top of the constructors’ table.

Injury updates affected the grid: Marco Bezzecchi returned from a shoulder injury but was not yet at full fitness, while Johann Zarco remained sidelined after a crash. Former British rider Cal Crutchlow filled in for the injured LCR Honda rider at the British round.
