Jorge Palma honored at public wake in Lisbon
A public wake was held on Wednesday, September 23, at the Voz do Operário building in Lisbon to honor the musician Jorge Palma. The event drew a wide array of figures from the Portuguese music industry, including Sérgio Godinho, Paulo Gonzo, Carminho, and Camané, as well as political figures such as former President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa and Minister of Culture Margarida Balseiro Lopes.
Musician Sérgio Godinho remarked that while Palma’s music will continue to exist, the community must support those left behind. Present at the wake were also various actors, journalists, and technical professionals from the music industry.
The funeral procession is scheduled to depart from Voz do Operário on Thursday, September 24, heading toward the Alto de São João cemetery for a cremation ceremony that will be reserved for close family and friends.
