Talleres de Córdoba dismisses manager Jorge Sampaoli

Talleres de Córdoba has officially parted ways with manager Jorge Sampaoli following a brief and unsuccessful tenure. The decision was announced by the club's board on Sunday, following a 0-0 draw against Central Córdoba de Santiago del Estero.

Sampaoli's stint lasted only seven matches in the Torneo Clausura, during which the team secured just one victory, two draws, and four losses. This performance left Talleres at the bottom of Group A with five points. The club noted that while they valued the professionalism of Sampaoli and his technical staff, the results fell short of expectations.

In a statement on social media, Sampaoli expressed his disappointment, noting that he had long desired to manage in Argentine football. He stated, “I couldn't. And, in the middle, there is a club and many fans who, understandably, wait for things to work. That exhausts time. It is sad. For the good of the club, that leads me to step aside.”

Under the terms of the separation, Sampaoli and his staff will be paid only up to their last day of work, with no additional severance. The club has not yet named a successor, though Eduardo Berizzo has been reported as a primary candidate. In the interim, the team will be managed by a trio of coaches: Ezequiel Carboni, Rodrigo, and Lautaro Acosta.
