Talleres de Córdoba’s struggles in the Torneo Clausura continued into late August 2026. His tenure lasted only seven matches, resulting in one victory, two draws, and four defeats, earning just five points and leaving the club at the bottom of Zona A. The club’s board confirmed that Sampaoli and his technical staff would be paid only up to their final day of work. Sampaoli expressed his disappointment on social media, stating, ‘Sometimes things do not work out,’ and noting that he stepped aside ‘for the good of the club.’ He added that while he had long desired to manage in Argentine football, the pressure of the situation led to his departure, remarking, ‘It is sad. For the good of the club, that leads me to step aside.’ On 1 September, Talleres appointed Omar De Felippe as the new head coach to replace Sampaoli. The 64-year-old manager, who previously led Central Córdoba to the 2024 Copa Argentina title, is scheduled for an official presentation on Wednesday.
