Eighteen suspects involved in the 2021 assassination of Haitian President Jovenel Moïse were extradited from Haiti to the United States on Sunday. The suspects were transported via a military aircraft from Port-au-Prince to Florida, where they are scheduled to face trial in the Southern District of Florida.

The group of extradited individuals includes Joseph Félix Badio, a key suspect accused of planning the assassination, and 17 former Colombian military members. Badio had been arrested in Pétion-Ville in October 2023 following a period as a fugitive.

U.S. Attorney Jason A. Reding Quiñones stated that the extradition marks a significant new phase in the pursuit of accountability for the crime. Federal prosecutors have already indicted a total of 30 people in connection with the assassination. FBI Special Agent in Charge Brett Skiles confirmed that multiple arrests have been conducted both in the United States and abroad as part of the ongoing investigation into the transnational plot.
