Josh Berry to join Legacy Motor Club for 2027 NASCAR season

Josh Berry has been announced as the driver of the No. 42 Toyota for Legacy Motor Club starting in the 2027 NASCAR Cup Series season. The announcement was made via a video on the team’s ‘The Club’ platform by Jimmie Johnson.

Berry, who has spent the last two seasons with Wood Brothers Racing, will succeed John Hunter Nemechek in the No. 42 seat. The move follows a period of improved performance for Berry, who recently secured a seventh-place finish at the Cook Out Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway. This result marked his sixth consecutive top-10 finish, the longest such streak for a Wood Brothers Racing driver since the mid-1970s.

Berry, 35, currently sits 25th in the championship standings. His career includes one Cup Series victory at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in 2025 and five wins in NASCAR’s second-tier series between 2021 and 2023.
