Joshua Kerry charged with terrorism plots targeting Nigel Farage
Joshua Kerry, 28, faces new charges of preparing acts of terrorism following the murder of Reform UK spokeswoman Ann Widdecombe. Prosecutors at the Old Bailey allege that Kerry’s actions were politically and ideologically motivated, driven by a “particular hostility towards Reform.”
Widdecombe, 78, was found dead in her Devon home in July after being struck multiple times with a hammer. In addition to the murder charge, Kerry is accused of planning terrorist acts targeting Reform UK leader Nigel Farage and other public figures between May 2024 and July 2026. Evidence presented in court included notes on Kerry’s mobile phone containing the home and office addresses of various politicians.
The prosecution further alleged that Kerry attempted to gain entry to Farage’s residence in April 2025, an incident where damage to a door and lighter fluid were discovered. Reform UK officials noted that the murder underscores the urgent need for enhanced security for political figures. A trial for both charges has been scheduled for June 8, 2026.
