Josiah Hartshorn promoted to Double-A by Chicago Cubs

Chicago Cubs prospect Josiah Hartshorn has been promoted to Double-A to conclude the 2026 season. The 19-year-old switch-hitting first baseman and outfielder will join the Knoxville Smokies following the elimination of the South Bend Cubs from the Midwest League playoffs.

Hartshorn, who was drafted in the sixth round of the 2025 high school draft, has become the top prospect in the Cubs' farm system during his professional debut year. His promotion marks a rare achievement for the organization; he is the first Cubs high school draftee to reach Double-A in his first full professional season since Dyain Frazier in 1970.
