Josimar Ferreira assumes leadership of Federal University of Acre

Josimar Ferreira has assumed the role of Rector at the Federal University of Acre (Ufac), beginning a management term for the 2026-2030 quadrennium. The new administration includes Almecina Balbino as Vice-Rector, alongside several pro-rectors overseeing areas such as undergraduate studies, research, extension, and administration.

Key priorities for the new leadership include evaluating the university's budget to ensure operational continuity through 2026 and resuming in-person university council meetings. The administration also plans to establish a specific pro-rectory for affirmative action, equity, gender, and inclusion. Additionally, the university will proceed with its own entrance exam for the Medicine course, with funding already secured. Plans are also underway to expand the university's permanent presence in regions such as Sena Madureira, Tarauacá, and Envira. A formal public ceremony for the transition of office is scheduled for August 21.
