Journalism and literary initiatives announced in Chile and Dominican Republic

The third edition of the ‘Nuevas Plumas Chile 2026’ award for unpublished Spanish-language chronicles is currently accepting entries. Organized by Universidad Portátil in collaboration with the Universidad Andrés Bello, the competition is open to residents of Chile of any nationality and Chileans living abroad up to the age of 35. The deadline for submissions is September 5, 2026. The winner will receive 1,000,000 Chilean pesos and publication of their work.

Separately, the Dominican Republic will host the XXVI AMMPE World Congress of Women Journalists and Writers in Santo Domingo from November 25 to 29. The Dominican Ambassador to Chile, Juan Cohen, met with representatives from ANMPE Chile and AMMPE World to discuss collaboration for the event. This edition will feature the presentation of the First Global Study of Women Journalists, a project developed by AMMPE World and the Universidad de los Andes, focusing on gender equity, digital violence, and the use of artificial intelligence in journalism.
