Journalist attacks reported in Mexico and Peru

In Veracruz, Mexico, journalist Roxana Berenice Guzmán Ramírez, director of the Pulso Informativo del Sureste portal, was kidnapped in the municipality of Nanchital. The National Forum of Journalists and Communicators condemned the abduction and urged federal and state authorities to locate her alive and prosecute those responsible, emphasizing the threat to press freedom.

In Ucayali, Peru, journalist Marcio Pérez of TV Perú Noticias and his cameraman were assaulted with water while broadcasting live outside the Manantay police station. The attack occurred during an operation involving the Police National Division of Complex Crime Investigation. Miguel Saavedra Neyra, former dean of the Peruvian College of Journalists – Ucayali Department, demanded that the regional police chief restore order and protect journalists, highlighting the need for respect of their constitutional role.

Both incidents prompted calls from journalist associations for stronger protection measures and accountability for violence against members of the press.
