Journalist Franck Kakule Kipuni, also known as Franck Kaki, has passed away at the age of 32 in Beni, North Kivu. His death occurred on Thursday, September 17, 2026, following a short illness.

Kipuni served as the editor-in-chief for the Tazama RDC press group. He was a prominent figure in the North Kivu media landscape, having worked with various outlets including Radio Colombe FM, Radio Shekinah FM, Les Volcans News, and Congo Profond.net.

In addition to his editorial roles, Kipuni was active in combating disinformation as a fact-checker for Congo Check since 2022. The North Kivu Media Professionals Collective (CPM-NK) and other regional media organizations have honored his career, noting his dedication to field reporting and rigorous fact-checking in a region facing significant security challenges. Tazama RDC has announced a temporary suspension of all its publications in mourning.
