Veracruz authorities intensify search for abducted journalist Roxana Guzmán
The state Attorney General’s Office in Veracruz identified a vehicle used in the June 2 abduction of journalist Roxana Berenice Guzmán in Nanchital and has traced possible routes through the neighboring municipalities of Moloacán and Cuichapa. Governor Rocío Nahle García confirmed that federal and state forces continue extensive search operations, with President Claudia Sheinbaum dispatching special federal reinforcement teams. Fiscalía General del Estado, led by Lisbet Jiménez, said, “Se está realizando el análisis de videograbaciones que nos ha permitido identificar el vehículo relacionado con los hechos y posibles rutas de desplazamiento.” The kidnapping was captured on video, showing masked, armed men breaking down the journalist’s door and forcing her into a white Nissan Versa. Her father, Fernando Guzmán, demanded her safe return, stating, “Que la regresen con vida.” Press‑freedom groups such as Artículo 19 and the Inter‑American Commission on Human Rights have condemned the incident and called for a thorough investigation. As of now, Roxana Guzmán remains missing.
