Journalist Will Murray rescues driver from sinking vehicle during Australian floods

ABC journalist Will Murray gained international attention after interrupting a live report to rescue a driver trapped in a sinking SUV during heavy flooding in Morayfield, Queensland.

While covering torrential rains that dropped approximately 18 centimeters of water on the region, Murray and a bystander worked to break into the vehicle. They successfully pulled the driver to safety just seconds before the SUV was completely submerged by floodwaters.

Murray, who previously worked in Wagga Wagga, has since received significant media coverage from international outlets including the BBC and the New York Times. Authorities have used the incident to remind the public of the dangers of attempting to drive through flooded roads, noting that currents and water depth can be deceptive.
