Journalists injured in Israeli strikes in Gaza and Lebanon
The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) has expressed alarm following an escalation of Israeli strikes in Gaza and Lebanon that injured at least four journalists. The incidents highlight the instability of existing ceasefires in both regions.
In southern Lebanon, Al-Manar TV correspondent Ali Chbib and cameraman Mohammed Barjawi sustained injuries from flying debris after an Israeli drone struck a parking lot in Nabatieh. Both were treated and released from the hospital.
In Gaza, Palestinian producer Ali Jahjouh of Al-Mayadeen was injured by shrapnel from a drone strike near the Al-Shati refugee camp. Additionally, Ezaldin Albtesh, a reporter for Al-Rai, was wounded by an explosive dropped by a drone in the Shuja’iyya neighborhood of Gaza City.
CPJ Regional Director Sara Qudah stated that these attacks demonstrate that ceasefires have provided little protection for media workers, calling on Israeli forces to stop attacks that put journalists at risk.
