Journalists Syndicate addresses credential disputes and fake entities

The head of the Journalists Syndicate, Khaled El-Balshy, met with a delegation from the General Syndicate of Workers in Press, Printing, Media, Culture and Antiquities, led by Magdy El-Badawy, to address professional disputes and protect journalists' rights.

A central issue in the discussions is the emergence of "fake entities" that exploit young professionals by issuing unauthorized identification cards and documents that imply legal professional status without merit. El-Balshy raised concerns regarding specific identification cards that omit the word "workers" and several sectors from the syndicate's official name. He noted that using abbreviated or altered titles, such as "General Syndicate of Press and Media," creates significant confusion for the public and authorities regarding the legal standing of the cardholders.

To resolve the tension, El-Balshy called for the correction of the names on these credentials to match official records and an apology for the confusion caused. Both syndicates agreed to enhance coordination to combat fraudulent organizations and ensure that professional status is granted only by legitimate, legally recognized bodies.
