Deen Castronovo suffers medical emergency during Journey concert in Tulsa
Journey drummer Deen Castronovo suffered a medical emergency during the band’s Final Frontier farewell tour concert at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on Thursday night. The performance was halted after only two songs when Castronovo required medical assistance and was transported to a local hospital.
During the pause, keyboardist Jonathan Cain and guitarist Neal Schon addressed the crowd. Schon later informed the audience that the show would continue with Castronovo’s drum technician, Steve Toomey, filling in for the remainder of the set. Vocalist Arnel Pineda also encouraged fans to offer prayers for the drummer.
One day after the incident, Neal Schon provided an update on social media, stating that Castronovo is ‘doing great’ and is expected to rejoin the tour in San Antonio. A band representative noted that Castronovo had not been feeling well during the early part of the show. No specific details regarding the nature of the medical emergency have been released.
