Mediterranean Games: Balkan athletes secure multiple medals in Taranto

Athletes from several Balkan nations are competing at the Mediterranean Games in Taranto, securing various medals across multiple disciplines.

Bosnia and Herzegovina celebrated its first gold medal of the games through Zakira Pušina, a cadet competing in the senior women's 10m air rifle event. Pušina set a new national record during her performance.

Montenegro secured bronze medals in boxing through Bojana Gojković in the 57kg category and in bocce via Gracija Stjepčević. However, Montenegrin boxer Miloš Roganović faced a controversial elimination in the quarterfinals after a refereeing decision awarded the win to Italian Gabriel Rontanija following a medical stoppage.

Serbia saw success in wrestling with Aleksandar Komarov winning gold in the 97kg category and Viktor Nemeš taking silver in the 87kg category. Serbian shooters also performed well, with Anđelija Stevanović earning silver and Aleksandra Stojadinović earning bronze in the women's air rifle event.

Croatia also saw medal success, particularly in bocce with five silver medals, and in swimming with a bronze for Luka Cvetko in the 50m freestyle.
