JPJ seizes over 4,000 luxury vehicles in Op Luxury

The Malaysian Road Transport Department (JPJ) has seized 4,098 luxury vehicles as part of its Op Luxury enforcement campaign conducted between July 1 last year and October 23 this year. The seized fleet includes high-end brands such as Rolls-Royce, Lamborghini, Ferrari, and McLaren.

JPJ Senior Enforcement Director Datuk Muhammad Kifli Ma Hassan stated that 785 luxury vehicles were seized last year, with an additional 3,313 seized through October this year. The enforcement actions targeted vehicles with expired Motor Vehicle Licenses (LKM). Some owners failed to renew licenses due to forgetfulness or because outstanding summonses had resulted in the vehicles being blacklisted.

In some instances, supercars valued at over RM5 million had not renewed their licenses for decades. The cost of the LKM for certain luxury models exceeded RM10,000 and reached as high as RM52,000. The owners of these vehicles include VIPs, businesspeople, and social media influencers. Recent local operations in Kedah, specifically in Sungai Petani and Kulim, also resulted in the seizure of luxury MPVs and other high-end cars for expired documentation and invalid driving licenses.
