Malaysian JPJ road regulation enforcement

The Malaysian Road Transport Department (JPJ) has conducted various enforcement operations throughout 2026 to address road regulation violations.

In August, the ‘Ops Ekstrem’ initiative focused on illegal motorcycle modifications and racing. During an operation in Kuala Lumpur, authorities inspected 443 motorcycles and took enforcement action against 376. This included the seizure of vehicles featuring extreme modifications such as engine alterations and missing brakes. Since January, this nationwide initiative has resulted in the seizure of 1,942 motorcycles.

Concurrently, the ‘Operasi Khas Luxury’ has targeted high-performance and luxury vehicles. A recent three-day operation in Kuala Lumpur led to the seizure of 23 vehicles, including models from Ferrari, Porsche, and BMW. Violations identified included expired motor vehicle licenses, driving without insurance, and driving without a valid license. JPJ Federal Territories Director Hamidi Adam noted that this specific operation has resulted in 179 vehicle seizures and 572 notices issued since its start in January.
