JPMorgan sexual harassment case dismissed, refiled in federal court expected

A New York state judge dismissed the lawsuit filed by former JPMorgan Chase banker Chirayu Rana, who alleged that his former supervisor Lorna Hajdini coerced him into non‑consensual sexual activity and used racially derogatory language. The dismissal, which Rana requested, includes an order for him to pay part of JPMorgan’s legal fees but does not affect Hajdini’s defamation countersuit, which remains in Manhattan state court.

Rana, a former vice‑president in leveraged finance, intends to refile the case in federal court, adding claims of discrimination, retaliation under civil‑rights statutes and violations of the Family and Medical Leave Act. JPMorgan has said it considers the allegations meritless.
