JPMorgan harassment lawsuit

Entities: United States · Lorna Hajdini · U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement · Chirayu Rana · JPMorgan Chase & Co.

Overview

In April 2026 a New York civil suit was filed alleging that JPMorgan Chase investment banker Lorna Hajdini sexually assaulted former colleague Chirayu Rana. Hajdini denied the accusations and filed a defamation countersuit; JPMorgan reportedly offered a $1 million settlement that Rana rejected. A Manhattan judge later ordered Rana to disclose his name after his request for anonymity was denied.

In July 2026 a state judge dismissed Rana’s suit at his own request and required him to pay part of JPMorgan’s legal fees. The dismissal left Hajdini’s countersuit pending, and Rana announced he would re‑file in federal court, adding claims of discrimination, retaliation and civil‑rights violations.

On 27 July 2026 Rana filed an amended 82‑page complaint in Manhattan federal court. The filing expands the case to include allegations of racial harassment—jokes calling him a “monkey” and “brown boy,” pressure to transact in rupees, and threats of immigration enforcement—and continued accusations of sexual coercion by Hajdini. The lawsuit now names additional defendants. JPMorgan maintains the claims lack merit, while Hajdini continues to deny the allegations.
