Godzilla -0.0 film set for November 2026 release in Japan

Director Takashi Yamazaki is preparing for the release of the latest installment in the franchise, ‘Godzilla -0.0’ (Godzilla Minus Zero), scheduled for nationwide release in Japan on November 3, 2026. Following the success of ‘Godzilla -1.0’, which won the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects, this new film will take place two years after the events of the previous movie, set in a Japan still bearing the scars of war.

Yamazaki, who serves as director, screenwriter, and VFX supervisor, has promised a high-octane entertainment experience designed to engage audiences from the very beginning. The film aims to explore the fundamental nature of Godzilla while providing intense spectacle.

To coincide with the release, various promotional collaborations have been announced. These include a ‘Piyorin Godzilla’ collaboration with JR Central featuring themed sweets and merchandise, a special menu at Shabu-Yo featuring ‘Despair Black Chige’ broth and Godzilla-themed dumplings, and a ‘Godzilla Fest 2026’ event at TAKANAWA GATEWAY CITY featuring a stage appearance by Yamazaki.
