JR train services in Chiba disrupted by Typhoon 25

Typhoon 25 has caused significant disruptions to JR train services in Chiba Prefecture due to landslides and heavy rain. On the JR Kururi Line, replacement bus services have commenced for four sections, including the route between Kisarazu and Kururi stations.

However, service remains suspended on parts of the JR Uchibo Line between Anegasaki and Kisarazu. While JR East has considered implementing replacement buses for this section, they have been unable to secure a sufficient number of vehicles. Repairs to the damaged tracks are expected to take at least three months.

To address the shortage, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism has requested cooperation from the Japan Bus Association to dispatch vehicles and drivers from across the country. The Ministry also issued a notice allowing bus companies to operate outside their standard service areas to facilitate the recovery efforts. JR East is also exploring technical solutions, such as installing temporary tracks near Nagaura station, to resume limited service.
