JR West announces ICOCA rewards and WESTER Point travel pass

JR West has announced several new initiatives for customers using its WESTER Points and ICOCA electronic money services, scheduled to begin in October 2026.

As part of an ‘ICOCA Usage Appreciation Campaign,’ customers who enter via the WESTER portal and spend at least 2,000 yen using ICOCA electronic money between October 1 and October 31, 2026, will be eligible for rewards. The campaign includes a lottery where 1,000 people can win 2,000 WESTER points, and a separate reward where one in two qualifying participants receives 20 points. Users of SMART ICOCA or Mobile ICOCA will receive increased winning probabilities.

Additionally, JR West will offer a ‘WESTER Points Kansai-Hokuriku Free Pass’ available for purchase via the e5489 online reservation system. For 6,000 points (adults) or 3,000 points (children), travelers can enjoy three days of unlimited travel within the Kansai and Hokuriku areas. This includes the Hokuriku Shinkansen (Tsuruga to Itoigawa), the Thunderbird limited express, and the Shirasagi limited express, with up to six reserved seat uses included. The pass will be available for purchase from October 1 through December 22, 2026, for travel between October 13 and December 24, 2026.
