Jürgen Klopp and Marc Kosicke's roles at DFB addressed
Following Jürgen Klopp’s appointment as the German national team coach, DFB President Bernd Neuendorf has addressed discussions regarding the role of Marc Kosicke, a long-time associate of Klopp.
Kosicke, who is not formally employed by the DFB but acts as an external collaborator, has been described by Klopp as a “co-coach for strategy, development, and innovation.” Neuendorf clarified that Kosicke is responsible for the coaching team’s organizational needs, including campus management and creating optimal working conditions. While reports suggested Kosicke’s involvement caused irritation within the DFB supervisory board, Neuendorf defended the move, stating that bringing in outside expertise is a positive step to prevent the association from becoming too insular.
Separately, former professional footballer and RTL expert Felix Kroos expressed support for Klopp’s leadership. Kroos noted that Klopp’s emphasis on social cohesion and national pride—aiming to reclaim the national flag from extremist influences—is a vital direction for the team and the country.
