Jürgen Klopp Confirmed as Germany’s New National Team Coach

Jürgen Klopp returned to Germany from the United States and announced on Instagram that he is preparing for the role of Germany’s national team coach. Negotiations with Red Bull have produced an agreement that avoids a costly release clause, allowing the DFB to move forward with a four‑year contract that could run to the 2030 World Cup.

The German Football Association is expected to formalise Klopp’s appointment in the coming days, with former Dortmund director Michael Zorc describing him as the “only logical choice.” Once signed, Klopp will make his debut in the Nations League on 24 September against the Netherlands, followed by matches against Greece, Serbia and further fixtures through November. The appointment follows Germany’s early exit from the 2026 World Cup and the resignation of Julian Nagelsmann.

Media reports across German, Spanish, Romanian and English outlets confirm that the agreement with Red Bull and the DFB is near final, and that Klopp will no longer hold a dual role at Red Bull. The federation still awaits internal approvals before the official announcement.
