Juan Diego Flórez opens Festival Cap Rocat 2026 in Balearic Islands

Peruvian tenor Juan Diego Flórez inaugurated the 2026 edition of the Festival Cap Rocat, held from 31 July to 2 August in the natural setting of the Balearic Islands. Under artistic director Ilias Tzempetonidis, the program features soprano Lise Davidsen, baritone Freddie de Tommaso, baritone Ludovic Tézier and conductor Pablo Mielgo, among others. Flórez opened with a recital accompanied by pianist Vincenzo Scalera, performing works by Bellini, Rossini, Donizetti and others.

On 2 August the festival will present a concert version of Puccini’s Tosca with Davidsen, de Tommaso and Tézier. Mielgo will conduct the Orquestra de les Illes Balears and the Festival choir led by Joan Company. Pianist Rudolf Buchbinder will perform a solo recital on 1 August, and a master‑class day will include a round‑table discussion and a training session with renowned baritone Ludovic Tézier, aimed at supporting emerging operatic talent.
