Juan Diego Flórez to celebrate 30 years of career at Rossini Opera Festival
Peruvian tenor Juan Diego Flórez will celebrate the 30th anniversary of his professional debut with a special recital at the Auditorium Scavolini in Pesaro on August 18, 2026. The event, titled ‘Flórez 30’, marks three decades since his unexpected 1996 debut in the role of Corradino in ‘Matilde di Shabran’ at the Rossini Opera Festival (ROF).
Flórez, who has served as the artistic director of the ROF since 2022, will be accompanied by the Orchestra del Teatro Comunale di Bologna and the Coro del Teatro Ventidio Basso, conducted by Iván López-Reynoso. The program features a selection of works from the bel canto repertoire, including compositions by Gioachino Rossini, Jules Massenet, Charles Gounod, Jacques Offenbach, and Gaetano Donizetti.
The recital serves as a tribute to a career that began with a last-minute substitution in Pesaro and evolved into international stardom, leading to performances at the world's most prestigious opera houses.
