Juan Eduardo Prieto launches regional employment board in Maule
Regional delegate Juan Eduardo Prieto announced that the Mesa Regional Pro Empleo will begin sessions next week in Chile's Maule region. The multisectoral public‑private forum, created together with labour minister Ervin Castillo and Subdere head Francoly Bravo, will coordinate actions based on 22 proposals from an expert panel.
The board aims to generate 3,000 new jobs within four months, focusing on agriculture, forest industry and construction, and giving special attention to women and youth. Maule’s unemployment rate stands at 10%, prompting the government to accelerate public investment and strengthen labour formalisation.
The initiative is part of a broader effort by President José Antonio Kast’s administration to address the "employment emergency" across the country.
