Judge in Parral linked to criminal proceedings for prevarication

Manuel J. T., a criminal judge in the Hidalgo Judicial District based in Parral, has been formally linked to criminal proceedings following his arrest by the Chihuahua State Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office. He is accused of aggravated prevarication for allegedly granting an undue procedural advantage during a hearing regarding precautionary measures.

The prosecutor's office claims the judge modified a ruling from another judge that had imposed justified preventive detention on a defendant. As part of the legal proceedings, the judge was granted a 12-month conditional suspension of the process, subject to several requirements. These include resigning from his position as a public servant within five business days, withdrawing all legal appeals and amparo lawsuits related to this case, residing in a specific location, and maintaining lawful employment.

Additionally, he must avoid contact with affected parties and report monthly to the Institute of Pre-Trial Services. The Chihuahua State Judiciary has expressed respect for the ongoing investigations, stating that the individual conduct of one person does not define the work of the entire judicial institution.
