Judicial corruption investigation in Chihuahua

Specifically, the judge, based in Parral, was accused of modifying a ruling from another judge that had imposed justified preventive detention on a defendant. To secure a 12-month conditional suspension of the process, he must resign from his public service role within five business days and withdraw all legal appeals and amparo lawsuits related to the case. He is also required to report monthly to the Institute of Pre-Trial Services. In response to the developments, the Chihuahua State Judiciary stated that “the individual conduct of one person does not define the work of the entire judicial institution.”
