Judge José Leonel Matos Centeno has left his position at the Pampas-Tayacaja Preparatory Investigation Court as of September 1. His departure follows the revocation of a 12-month preventive detention order he had issued against eight military personnel.

The military members were being investigated for homicide and attempted homicide related to an intervention in Colcabamba on April 25. The First Criminal Appeals Court of Junín overturned the detention, citing deficiencies in the legal reasoning of the original resolution.

Matos Centeno faces multiple legal challenges. Senator Fernando Rospigliosi filed a complaint with the National Board of Justice (JNJ), which has requested the judge's disciplinary record. Additionally, the defense for the military personnel has filed criminal charges against him for alleged prevarication and ideological falsehood.

Lawyer Liliveth Quispe Orellana has been appointed as a supernumerary judge to fill the vacancy. The court has not officially stated whether Matos Centeno's departure was due to administrative measures or disciplinary suspension.
